DWSOC thanks every single one of the candidates who ran for office in 2020...
we are beyond grateful for your tireless efforts and desire to serve.
As always in an election, we had some wonderful wins and some painful losses.
Even when we do not win, we have to remember that each race we support
helps build a sustaining Democratic organization that can be used to change the map in the future.
That is particularly true in the U.S. Senate races...it's how we make these states competitive going forward.
We are so sad that Congress Members Harley Rouda and Gil Cisneros were not re-elected.
They were both in tough districts with well-known opponents. We are determined to take back those seats in 2022
and Harley has already announced that he will run again...yay Harley!
It is also so disappointing that Scott Rhinehart wasn't elected in AD73
and nor was Sergio Contreras for the OC Board of Supervisors in District 1.
We are incredibly sad that Donna Vidrine, Gary Newkirk and Stephanie Oddo did not make it onto the San Clemente, Dana Point and Laguna Niguel City Councils respectively; and unfortunately, nor was Sue Hill elected to CUSD Trustee. But, we know great things lie ahead for them all and look forward to continuing our work together!
